Singer and actor Dua Lipa gives Vogue an exclusive look at the contents of her cheerfully adorned Birkin bag. As she rifles through her stuffed carryall, Dua pulls out hot sauce, her diary, a tiny duck, a digital camera, some furikake and so much more. The Grammy Award-winning artist also tells the tale of Two-Dollar Steve, explains why she loves wired headphones, and recounts her honky-tonk, rootin’-tootin’ trip to Austin, Texas.
Dua Lipa is on the Asia leg of her “Radical Optimism” tour, and the singer-songwriter is teasing fresh elements for her devoted fanbase across the continent.
The Asia tour kicked off in Singapore and continued across Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia, with India and South Korea to come.
After incorporating Jane Fonda-inspired workout routines into her Singapore performances, Lipa remains coy about what else she has planned for the remainder of the tour. “You never know what I might have up my sleeve, but I think you’re going to like it,” Lipa told Variety.
The “Dance The Night” hitmaker has always maintained a special connection with Asia, particularly India, where she’s scheduled to perform in Mumbai on Nov. 30. Her previous visits to the region have left lasting impressions, both personally and professionally.
“I always leave my trips feeling so rejuvenated and full of inspiration,” she said. “One of the best parts about touring the world is getting to be a tourist in so many new places, and I always find the best things to do when I’m in Asia and definitely in India. Last time I visited, I met so many warm and kind people.”
The upcoming Mumbai concert marks Lipa’s return to the city after a significant hiatus. In 2019, she performed at the OnePlus Music Festival.
“It’s been so long since my last performance in Mumbai,” Lipa said. “I’m trying not to set too many expectations going in, but I think I’m most looking forward to just being on stage and reconnecting with my fans that I haven’t seen in so long.”
Also performing at the Mumbai concert are Jonita and Talwinder.
Next up for Lipa are two concerts in Seoul, on Dec. 4 and 5.
On Tuesday (Nov. 19), the pop star announced the release date for her first-ever live album, Dua Lipa Live From The Royal Albert Hall. Recorded during her Oct. 17 performance at the iconic venue and releasing on Friday, Dec. 6, the new LP features Lipa singing through the entirety of her latest album, Radical Optimism, with a number of her biggest hits sprinkled in for good measure.
In a statement, Lipa shared that her performance at the legendary hall was “unlike anything I’ve ever done,” and that she wanted to have a permanent record of the show. “For the longest time, I’ve had this idea to reimagine my music with an orchestra, and when I was making Radical Optimism, I was constantly thinking about the live element and how these songs would transform on stage, so when The Royal Albert Hall show came up, it presented itself as the perfect opportunity to not only reconstruct these songs, but also celebrate them in such a beautiful and intimate way,” she said. “The experience was entirely thrilling and equally rewarding.”
The live album will be released just days before Lipa’s primetime concert special filmed at The Royal Albert Hall — An Evening With Dua Lipa will air on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, Dec. 15.

North American fans of Dua Lipa who’ve been clamoring for the U.S. to get a piece of the “Radical Optimism” tour will get their day… but they’ll have to wait for it, as Lipa won’t be coming to the States until September and October of 2025.
The pop superstar announced 20 dates in the U.S. and Canada for the fall of next year on Thursday, as part of a broader tour announcement that also included concerts she is adding onto her tour in Europe and other parts of the world starting in March.
The first U.S. shows will be Sept. 5-6 in Chicago, followed by similar two-nights stands in Boston Sept. 9-10, Atlanta Sept. 13-14, New York Sept. 17-18, Miami Sept, 26-27, Dallas Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Los Angeles Oct. 4-5, San Francisco Oct. 11-12 and Seattle Oct. 15-16. She has Canadian dates just prior to hitting the U.S., but not many — she’ll do two nights in Toronto next Sept. 1-2.
A general on sale for these 2025 shows begins Sept. 20 at dualipa.com.
Singer Dua Lipa will be pulling double duty on the May 4 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” hosting and acting as the musical guest. The announcement was made during Saturday’s episode, hosted by Ryan Gosling and with music from Chris Stapleton.
Lipa’s upcoming third studio album “Radical Optimism” is set to drop on May 3. She has also dabbled in the acting world, last seen in this year’s big-budget spy adventure “Argylle” and last year’s “Barbie.”
Lipa recently spoke with Variety about the statement she is hoping to make with her upcoming record.
“I think for me, the importance of understanding that when things are bad, there’s always some light at the end of the tunnel,” she said. “I always think about it like, when I’m in the midst of a mess of turmoil or everything’s going wrong, I always tell myself, in a couple months, I’m gonna look back on that moment, and be like, thank God I walked through it. I didn’t decide to hide or not deal with the problem at hand, whatever it is, but actually choose to go through it. And that’s how I grew. And I feel like that just overall, especially in the world right now, I think it’s important that we just learn to walk through the fire and not hide away from it, or shy away from it. That’s just optimism. It’s probably the most daring thing we can do.”
Lipa’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” will be the 18th of Season 49. She was previously the musical guest on the Natalie Portman-hosted February 3, 2018 episode and the Kristen Wiig-hosted December 19, 2020 show.
Few artists have ever fused pop and dance music as fluidly as ABBA, and their influence is writ subtly but large on Dua Lipa’s new single “Training Season” — the second from her still-untitled forthcoming third album — which was previewed during her performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this month.
Driving but not as in-your-face as its predecessor “Houdini,” the song struts along on a powerful disco beat, with a melody that swerves into almost Middle-Eastern scales, reminiscent of ABBA’s biggest disco hits, “Voulez-Vous” and “Gimme Gimme Gimme.” While the initial influence is subtle, it’s unmistakable, and is driven home later in the song with piano flourishes that recalls ABBA keyboardist Benny Andersson’s on many of the group’s hits, most famously “Dancing Queen.” It’s the best kind of tribute: nothing overt, but a sly, fun wink for fans who notice it.
Her collaborators on the song are the same as “Houdini”: Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Caroline Polachek/ Charli XCX collaborator Danny L. Harle (who produced) along with cowriters Tobias Jesso Jr. (Adele, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus) and Caroline Ailin (who’s cowritten several Lipa hits).
And the video is an awesome commentary on the rigors of dating, which are reflected in her comments about the making of the song.
“I had been on a string of bad dates, and the last one was the final straw,” Dua says in the announcement. “The next morning I arrived to the studio to [cowriters] Caroline and Tobias asking me how it all went and I immediately declared ‘TRAINING SEASON IS OVER,’ and like the best ‘day after’ debriefs with your mates, we had a lot of laughs and it all quickly came together from there.”
She continues, “And while it is obviously about that feeling when you are just absolutely done telling people…men specifically in this case, how to date you right; it is also about my training season being over and me growing with every experience. I have never felt more confident, clear or empowered. And while it may be that training season is never over for any of us, you start to see the beauty in finding that person to experience it with. You stop looking for the trainees and become more interested in having someone where you are and someone to grow with.”

Dua talks about the cover art for her new single Training Season, being meticulous and very detailed about her daily schedule, releasing her third album, writing all of her songs in a notebook, going on shopping sprees at CVS, bad dates inspiring her song Training Season, Katy Perry calling her up on stage at a concert when she was 15, and she translates some Albanian sayings for us.
Music superstar Dua Lipa talks about joining the ‘Barbie’ universe as the co-writer and performer of the hit song “Dance the Night” – and her on-set memories playing the mermaids of Barbieland.
